How Precious is Every Second When Trying To Save a Life?
In a recent study (February of 2018) by the Pew Research Center, they found that while 95% of Americans have a cellphone, less than 46% of American homes have a landline phone. This means that an increasing number of Americans are calling for help on cellphones than ever before, and unfortunately many 911 Call Centers in cities and counties throughout the nation do not have the ability to quickly and accurately track the emergency cellphone calls they receive.
Those agencies in the business of saving lives (Police, Fire Departments, EMTs, etc...) know too well that real life rescues are not like what you see on TV or in the Movies. Real-time cellphone tracking looks and sounds great on your favorite Police Procedural show, but far too often 911 operators have to rely on cellphone callers to identify their location. Where does this leave people who don't know their exact location, either because they are too young, they are injured / incapacitated, or they are visitors unfamiliar with the area?
Most rescue personnel, if asked, can probably share instances where they were unable to save a life because they could not reach or locate them in time. These stories are the reason we created PublicSafety.Works - a division of our company that creates software and hardware solutions that assist our law enforcement and rescue personnel in saving lives.
